XC-142A - Designed by a team comprising LTV, Hiller and Ryan, the
X-22A - Developed initially to a US Navy contract the first of two
XC-142A employed the tilt-wing configuration and was evaluated by
a Tri-Service research program. It was first flown in 1964 and
achieved its first transition flight in 1965.
X-22A's flew in 1966 but crashed beyond economical repair. The
second flew in 1967 and was evaluated under a Tri-Services
research program. The X-22 employed transitioning ducted
propellers driven by four YT-58 turboshaft engines, cross-linked
by shafts to ensure all ducts were under power in the event of an
engine failure.

X-19 - Designed initially as a commercial venture by Curtiss to
exploit the company's "Radial Lift" concept the prototypes were
taken over by the USAF's Tri-service VTOL program during
construction. The first prototype crashed but the USAF and Curtiss
could not agree on funding for the program which terminated
before the second aircraft flew.
Canadair CL-84 Dynavert - Also employing a tilt-wing configuration
the CL-84 was one of the most advanced aircraft built in Canada.
First flown in 1965 the prototype crashed in 1967 due to a propeller
control malfunction. An improved CL-84-1 version flew in 1970 and
was evaluated by the US military including sea-trials aboard the
USS Guadalcanal in 1974.These CD's contains the flight manuals for these four VTOL
research aircraft. The flight manuals have been scanned from the originals and
retain any colour pages.
