DOUGLAS SBD
DAUNTLESS
![]()
The Douglas SBD was developed from a Northrop design and
first entered service in 1940. Between 1940 and 1943 it was
the US Navy's principal dive bomber until its eventual
replacement by the Curtiss SB2C.
Approx 5,936 examples were produced between 1940 and the
end of production in July 1944. The most common variants
were the SBD-4 and SBD-5, and versions of these were used
by the USAAF as the A-24A and A-24B.
The CD contains flight manuals for four variants of the SBD
series and one maintenance manual, has been scanned from
the original flight manuals and retains any colour pages.
