PILATUS PC-7 & PC-9
![]()
The Pilatus PC-7 and PC-9 can trace their origins back to
the late 1950s and the second military training aircraft
developed by the small Swiss Pilatus company, the P3.
In 1966 Pilatus developed a PT6 turboprop version of the P3
called the PC-7 but this didn't attract any customers initially.
In 1978 production deliveries began and eventually over 400
were produced for air forces all around the world.
In 1982 Pilatus began a re-design of the PC-7 for the advanced
military training role. The changes were significant, including
more powerful engine, stepped re-designed cockpit and
canopy with ejection seats, modified wing and fin, ventral
airbrake, and larger wheels with high-pressure tyres. Only
10% of the PC-7 is common with the PC-9.
The PC-9 has been procured by many air forces around the
world, and produced under licence in both Australia and the
USA, where it is entering service with the USAF and US Navy
as the T-6 Texan.
This CD has been scanned from the original flight manuals
and retains any colour pages.
