GRUMMAN G73 MALLARD
![]()
The Grumman G73 Mallard was the third amphibian passenger
aircraft built by Grumman, following on the success of the
Goose and Widgeon. The larger Mallard was designed for
commercial operation and retained many of the features of
its smaller predecessors including twin radials, high wings
with underwing floats and retractable fuselage mounted
undercarriage.
The Mallard prototype first flew in April 1946, and entered
commercial service in September of that year. While it was
intended for regional airline operations, with two pilots and
10 passengers, post-war surplus aircraft sales and the
availability of smaller airports limited market potential.
The aircraft was in production from 1946 to 1951, with 59
examples produced. Production ended when the much
larger HU-16 Albatross was introduced at Grumman.
This CD contains the flight manual and service manuals for
the Mallard plus two other descriptive documents, has been
scanned from the original flight manuals and retains any
colour pages, except where stated.
