The Lockheed 12 Electra Junior first flew in 1936 and was developed
from the earlier, larger Model 10 Electra, which itself was developed
to compete with the Douglas DC-2 and Boeing 247. Only 130
examples were built as Lockheed concentrated on more important
military contracts.

Lockheed developed the Model 14 as an enlarged version of the
Lockheed 10. A maritime reconnaissance variant of the aircraft was
built to a British requirement as the Lockheed Hudson, 2,584 of
which were eventually produced. The USAAF used a number of
Hudsons in various roles as the A-28, A-29 and AT-18.

The Model 18 was developed from the Model 14 by lenghtening
the fuselage by 5 feet. By the time the aircraft was developed
most US Airlines had committed to the Douglas DC-3 and only
625 were built.
