First flown in 1953, the Helio Courier series of aircraft was specially
designed for STOL performance. Approx 500 had been built when
production ended in the early 1970's, including a number for the
USAF and US Army. The type served mainly in South East Asia and
achieved some notoriety for also being operated by the CIA. (Who
apparently built some examples from spare parts and were later
involved in a legal dispute with the manufacturer over it.)An enlarged version powered by a turboprop flew in the late 1960's,
but only found a customer with the USAF, it being too expensive for
civil operators. 15 armed examples were obtained by the USAF,
primarily for SEA operations, and all but one of these were
eventually transfered to the Kmer Air Force. This CD contains two USAF Flight Manuals, covering the piston-
engined U-10 Courier and the enlarged turbo-prop powered armed
AU-24A. This CD has been scanned from the original flight manuals
and retains any colour pages.
