DOUGLAS F3D
SKYKNIGHT

The F3D Skyknight was an example of the early jet
aircraft produced just after WW2. It was designed as a
carrier-based radar-equipped night fighter. Typically
for those days the engines were under-powered and
the radar equipment was extremely heavy.

The first example of the initial F3D-1 version first flew
in 1948. Only 28 examples of this model were built due
to the poor performance of the engine, and all were
used solely for training.

The later version, the F3D-2 with more powerful engines,
was more successful and 237 were built. This model was
in service until 1970 including service in Korea and
Vietnam.

The CD includes flight manuals covering both main
versions of the Douglas F3D Skyknight.  The CD has
been scanned from the original manuals and retains
any colour pages.
