Designed under the FX
program as the successor to the F-4, the
F-15 first flew
in 1972. Developed initially as an interceptor the
later F-15E was
developed as an all-weather tactical fighter-
bomber. The aircraft
has been exported to Japan, Israel and
Saudi Arabia.
