SO1221 DJINN![]()
The SO1221 Djinn was a small two-seat light turbine
helicopter notable for its unusual propulsion system.
The turbine engine was used to produce compressed
air which was fed to outlets at the ends of each blade.
This method of propulsion had the benefit of not
requiring an anti-torque system such as a tail-rotor.The aircraft first flew in 1953 and was produced until
the early 1960's by which time 178 had been built.
The main operator was the French military, but three
examples were evaluated by the US Army as the
YHO-1. (This is probably the reason manuals were
produced in English.)This CD contains two manuals for the SO1221, a
descriptive and operation manual and a technical
manual which includes flight manual data. The CD
has been scanned from the original flight manuals
and retains any colour pages.
