Cessna has been very successful in selling versions of its light
high-winged aircraft to the military, starting with the L-19 / O-1
series.
The Cessna 180 was introduced in 1953 as a larger more powerful
partner to the Cessna 170. It remained in continuous production
until 1981 by which time over 6,000 had been built. The 180 was
used by the RAAF and a number of South East Asian and South
American air arms.
The Cessna 185 was a more powerful variant of the 180 with a
lengthened fuselage, in production from 1960 until 1985. The
USAF purchased three models of 185 for supply to foreign air
arms under the Military Assistance Program (MAP) as the U-17A,
U-17B and U-17C. Over 450 examples of U-17 were built.
The Cessna 172 was essentially a tri-cycle undercarriage version
of the Cessna 170 and is the most successful light aircraft in
history. In production since 1956, over 43,000 of all models have
been built. The military T-41 variant is essentially similar and
used for basic flight screening and training, but ulitises a more
powerful engine.
This CD contains the flight manuals for military versions of the
Cessna 172, 180 and 185. The CD has been scanned from the original
