FAIRCHILD C-123
PROVIDER
![]()
The C-123 was designed by Chase Aircraft Corp, initially as a
large assault glider. Two prototype XCG-20 gliders were built,
then converted to powered configuration, one with two R2800
radial engines and one with four J47 jet engines.
The former proved successful and a large production contract
was ordered by the USAF. For political reasons the contract was
put up for bid as the C-123B and awarded to Fairchild Aircraft. The aircraft proved rugged and reliable, and a number of upgrades
were developed over the years involving improved undercarriage
and brakes, auxiliary jet engines, etc. The aircraft was used
extensively in Vietnam, including the controversial "Agent Orange"
defoliation programme. This CD contains flight manuals for several variants of the C-123.
The CD has been scanned from the original flight manuals and
retains any colour pages.
