BOEING 747
![]()
The most recognisable shape in the air, now that Concorde has
been retired, the Boeing 747 is the aircraft that has made air
travel the affordable and popular proposition it is today.
Known universally as the "Jumbo Jet" the 747 was first flown in
1969 and entered service with the first customer Pan American
in 1970. The aircraft was designed using technology Boeing
developed for its unsuccessful bid for a USAF contest won by
Lockheed with the C-5.
The program was a gamble for Boeing at the time but it paid off
and the 747 dominated long-range travel for decades. Over
1400 examples have been built to date of several major
variants.
This CD contains the Trans World Airlines (TWA) flight manual
